Happy Easter and Happy Holidays everyone

Enjoy the two week holiday and try not to eat too much chocolate this weekend!  Thank you to all the parents who were able to come along to the play performances on Thursday.  The children really enjoyed practising and performing the plays and for those of you who couldn't be in the audience, I hope you enjoy watching our (amateur) videos of the plays on the following posts.

I will also post the plays onto the students' Seesaw accounts.  Please sign up for this if you haven't already done so.  It's a great way to be part of your child's learning journey.

Our Visual Mihi

We have been working hard to complete our Visual Mihi.  We have already started to learn how to say our Mihi and have also been thinking about what is important to us as well as what we like to do.  We drew pictures and wrote words that represent us.  Here are our results.

Buddy Time with Room 2

We love meeting up with our buddy class, Room 2, every fortnight.  Today we were treated to our big buddies sharing some of their work.  They have been learning how to retell a story and had used digital media, stick puppets and story wheels.

Room 9 news

Room 9 make the most of our learning time, whether it is maths, reading, writing or key competencies.  Christine has a saying she taught us - bell to bell learning and we certainly work hard during the day.

In maths time we sometimes do rich tasks where we are given a problem and have to find ways to solve it.
We found lots of different ways to share the dinosaur eggs equally between their nests.
Practising writing our numbers correctly is important.

For the past two weeks Room 9 have hosted Syndicate meetings.  On Mondays and Fridays the Pohutukawa classrooms get together for Wa Whanau and last Thursday we had our assembly.  Here are some of our leaders from the past two weeks demonstrating their public speaking skills.

We also feel proud when we receive certificates for our hard work.  Ka Pai to the superstars this week.

Hurricane Debbie's tail to reach Nelson

Evening all,

Whaea Pip has asked that I post her message to our Blog to ensure we reach as many families as we can before school tomorrow.

Dear All
Tomorrow there are high wind warnings (120km)  in place for Nelson.
Hopefully this does not turn out to be the significant weather event that is forecast...but just in case we have decided on the following.

To minimise the possible danger- particularly around the pick up areas outside the school,  we ask you to pick up your children from their class after school tomorrow (Wednesday) .

To alleviate the possible traffic congestion we suggest children from Kowhai  and Pohutukawa syndicates , and all those in Te Pouahi are picked up at 2.30pm, if you are able.
All students in the senior main block of the school can be picked up from their classrooms at 3 pm.
Obviously if you have children in different areas you can pick them up at either time.

We hope that - by afternoon- this plan will not be necessary . Please check back on our Facebook page , or via email for changes to this plan.

Thanks for your support in making sure all our students are safe during this potential event.

Regards
Nga mihi
