Spelling

TERM 2  - The focus will continue to be the Essential Lists and ensuring the students have the confidence to transfer their spelling knowledge across to their writing.  At the end of this week I will test them on Lists 1 and 2.  Next week we will do List 3.

Listed below are the words your child will need to learn.

Essential Spelling List 1 (10 words, 25% of writing)

Term 1
For the start of the year we will be focussing on the Essential Lists.  These words make up the majority of our everday writing.  Being able to recall these words instantly and knowing how to write them off by heart will greatly assist your child in their literacy.

Your child will be given 5 words to learn every week and they will be tested on Fridays to see how well they know them "off by heart".  Please support them with this using the prompts in the Spelling book.  Your child can also use the website Spelling City to play fun games on-line to help them learn these words.  Click on the link on the Blog.
